Using Nuxeo with Adobe Drive CMIS Client and Photoshop
Adobe recently upgraded its Drive product to version 3. While Drive version 2 was already supposed to support CMIS, we had some issues here at Nuxeo on how to use it properly and, to be honest, we never looked at it in too much detail. With this new version of Drive, however, comes new hope and I decided to put it to the test!
For those who aren’t familiar with Drive, it’s a small piece of software introduced a couple of years ago that complements Creative Suite, it helps by plugging Creative Suite software applications into a digital asset management solution. Drive supports either Version Cue or a CMIS generic connector, which is what makes it interesting for Nuxeo as the Nuxeo Platform offers a native CMIS implementation. Adobe Drive can be downloaded on Adobe’s website.
As an Adobe product, Drive should speak to creative folks using Creative … Read more
Introduction to Nuxeo’s Social Collaboration module
Hi guys,
One of the newest features of the 5.5 release is the Social Collaboration module (https://github.com/nuxeo/nuxeo-social-collaboration). It brings some more social power to document and content management, moving slightly Nuxeo in the Enterprise 2.0 fields. Here’s the list of Social modules included with this addon:
- Nuxeo Social Workspace: provides a new Social Workspace incorporating social features like dashboards for public view as well as members view, members management and invitations.
- Nuxeo User Relationship: provides a Service which handles relations between two objects which in this case is a UI to manage relations between users.
- Nuxeo User Activity Stream: provides a JSF view and OpenSocial gadget to display what users in your network/your relations are doing.
- Nuxeo Mini Message: provides a service, JSF view and OpenSocial gadget to add / remove / display mini messages created by users.
The complete details on Social Collaboration are available on our … Read more
Nuxeo IDE — Arming Nuxeo Developers with (More) Great Tools!
We were really happy at Nuxeo yesterday to make available the first version of the Nuxeo IDE.
This is a great milestone, and one more achievement in implementing our vision behind the Nuxeo Platform!
But before jumping to features, documentation and other things, I thought it would be useful to provide some insight about this "yet another thing" provided by Nuxeo. So, before talking about Nuxeo IDE, I will indeed start with a quick overview of Nuxeo Studio!
Nuxeo Studio and now Nuxeo IDE… huh?
Nuxeo Studio is, as you might know, Nuxeo's "Customization as a Service" tool, and like Nuxeo IDE, it aims at making the developer's life easier.
It is software provided as a service, hosted, and runs 100% in a browser. We love this vision and definitely believe it fits with the future of software development: in the browser and in the cloud.
Nuxeo Studio was first … Read more

Just Released – Nuxeo DM and EP 5.4.2
The newest version of Nuxeo Document Management and Nuxeo Enterprise Platform was released today – demonstrating again what makes the open source paradigm fresh and innovative: a vibrant, engaged community. Direct feedback through our forums gives us powerful information about what's working, what could be improved, and how our customers use our software. We channel that back into the products, another step in a cycle of continuous improvement.
This latest release of Nuxeo DM, and its underlying platform, Nuxeo EP, features contributions from customers Gagnavarslan and Leroy Merlin, a smoother UI experience driven by community feedback, and a glimpse of new things to come for the Nuxeo Platform and product line.

Wizardry for Nuxeo Digital Asset Management
More DAM awesomeness from the R&D gurus @Nuxeo — the latest point release of Nuxeo DAM (open source digital asset management), version 1.3, aligns with the latest version of the Nuxeo Enterprise Platform. This means it has an installation wizard, a controller GUI, and is generally even easier to install and run. To mark the occasion, we've created a Nuxeo DAM overview screencast:
Installation Wizard
The installation process for Nuxeo DAM just got easier. A step-by-step wizard launches for the initial startup, and helps you configure some commonly used parameters, such as database and email. The wizard also offers registration for a 30-day free trial of Nuxeo Connect, enabling streamlined software updates and access to Nuxeo Marketplace packages from within the Admin Center of Nuxeo DAM.

Towards a Cloud-Ready Open Source ECM Platform
Elastic Storage Provisioning. Really.
At the risk of stating the obvious, cloud-based anything enables elastic provisioning. Right? Joe the Architect’s application is a big hit with the users, and has become the document storage center of the organization. The content storage needs have grown faster than he imagined. Does Joe need to plan, provision, and launch a new project to manage the situation? No no no. Flip a switch and put that content on the cloud. Joe the Rock Star.
Really, it comes down to the flexibility
Nuxeo Document Management 5.4.1 and Application Wizardry
The Nuxeo R&D team has just given us a new version of Nuxeo DM (open source document management) / Nuxeo Enterprise Platform (EP). This latest minor release offers a couple of new features and a host of improvements. Full details are in the Release Notes blog post, but I’d like to highlight a few features and improvements here.
Installation Wizard
Nuxeo DM now launches a 5-step installation wizard on the first access to the application. Why? Because our downloaders were running into issues that required turning to the documentation, and spending a bit more time on application set up than necessary when they needed something other than the default settings of the system. We listened to them, and we built a wizard to make the installation process faster, easier, more intuitive.
The installation wizard walks the new installer through the basic steps to configure the Nuxeo DM server. … Read more
Nuxeo DAM 1.2 – New Admin Tools and Improved CMIS Support
This new version of our digital asset management solution represents an important milestone, because it is aligned with the Nuxeo Enterprise Platform version 5.4. Built with the modular, extensible Nuxeo EP technology, Nuxeo DAM offers a full-featured, flexible, and CMIS-enabled application for managing rich media content.
In practical terms, this means that the 1.2 version of Nuxeo DAM now has the Admin Center, a one-stop shop for in-application administrative services, such as server and application usage summary information, and access to upgrades, patches, and Nuxeo Marketplace packages. Addons and upgrades to Nuxeo DAM can now be installed with a few clicks, from within the application, and often without requiring a restart. We want to take the pain out of content application development, and focus on the productive part.
We’ve also created a new Nuxeo Marketplace package called the Nuxeo DAM PDF Export to enable the export of a … Read more
Shibboleth® Authentication – Now Available From the Nuxeo Marketplace
Nuxeo recently developed a module to add Nuxeo DM (Open Source Document Management) to the applications available through the Shibboleth Authentication system for the University of Rennes 1, France, for the consortium ESUP-Portal. In the spirit of community, we have packaged the technology and made it available on the Nuxeo Marketplace, so others can share the Shibboleth love.
Federated identity systems make a lot of sense for both system administrators and system users. It allows for information about users in one security domain to be provided to other organizations in a federation, enabling cross-domain single sign-on.
The Shibboleth System is an open source software package for cross-domain single sign-on. The Shibboleth Authentication package enables a Shibboleth system to include the Nuxeo DM application in its federated identity management system, so that users logging into the single sign-on system will have access to their organization's deployment of Nuxeo DM.
